New Rising Sun
About The Band
Vocalist David and guitarist Jeff formed New Rising Sun in the summer of 2006. It didn’t take long for word to spread before the duo were offered house gigs at various restaurants, bars, and clubs throughout Niagara.
David and Jeff continued to perform until 2015 when they decided a hiatus was in order to focus on other things. Each were relatively new fathers and wanted to spend more time at home with their families.
In the spring of 2022, a friend of the band was launching a new business and requested that New Rising Sun come out of retirement and play the grand opening of their restaurant. The timing was right so the two knocked off any rust and resumed playing without missing a beat.
Later that year Mike seamlessly joined on bass guitar, rounding out their sound, adding an entirely new dimension altogether. 2023 saw the trio become the inaugural champions of The Irish Harp Pub’s Battle of the Bands. A feat and distinction they will always be very proud of.
Fun Fact: As a child he was obsessed with the song “Let Your Backbone Slide” by Maestro Fresh Wes and would break dance to it at every wedding.
Fun Fact: At one point, owned an original VHS of every Robert De Niro film ever made….you talkin’ to me?
Fun Fact: When not playing bass in New Rising Sun or The Rye It, Mike can be found searching the depths of the internet purchasing Cobra Commander action figures.
